Never ever thought I’d be making a business card in Hebrew!
A personal thought on the power of a business card
As I look through many business cards for inspiration for my own design, I remember an encounter I had with a business card the other day.
When living in Israel it is important to be aware of the political situation related to many cultures living in one area and the issue of the ‘West Bank’ etc. So, there I was in the West Bank listening to a very good tour guide, who was unbiased and told us every side of the issue. He kept my attention throughout the tour and talks and my interest was aroused in finding out more about the political issues in Israel and the surrounding countries. This almost never happens due to my lack of interest in politics.
At the end of the time in the West Bank he offered his business card to those who wanted regular updates on the situation in Israel so I accepted and took one.
At first glace I did not particularly like his card, a mish-mash of typefaces made his details confusing and it was slightly outdated. However, I had enjoyed the talks so ignored the business card ‘horror’.
Today I thought to myself that I should go and look for that tour guide’s website etc for an Israel update, but immediately a nagging inside me said “No he’s not very good, look at his business card! Your memory is tricking you into believing his talks were interesting!”
I was shocked at myself for thinking this; subconsciously his business card had had a huge impact of how I thought of his talks afterwards!
Note to everyone and anyone : make your business card as professional as you are!
